Route SW1 was a Stagecoach Gold service operated by Stagecoach in Oxfordshire. The service ran between Carterton and London.

History Edit

In late 2014, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire announced that they would be creating an all new weekend and bank holiday service linking West Oxfordshire with Central London. The service started in Carterton before heading directly to London via Witney with 2 journeys running each way on Saturday, Sunday and some bank holiday Monday's.

In April 2015 Stagecoach in Oxfordshire confirmed that they would be withdrawing the service just 6 months after it's launch due to low passenger numbers and lack of demand for the service. They did however state that the service may return at some point in the future but this now seems unlikely to happen.

Two of the three vehicles used on the SW1 are now being service on routes S1, S2 and S7. The one remaining vehicle has been transferred to Oxford depot as a reserve vehicle for routes S3 and S5.

Trivia Edit

  • Route SW1 was the only Stagecoach Gold service to be operated by vehicles equipped with seatbelts.
